methodical morning

"the stale coffee is boiling up but he catches it
before it goes over the side, pours it into a
stained cup and blows on the black liquid
lets a panel of the dream slide forward.
If he does not force his attention on it
it might stoke the day..."

part of the opening scene of annie proulx's
short story brokeback mountain..

dreams tend to hover just out of our reach
but with gentle handling we can coax their
images & emotions to the surface...
and they can become a tool
used to enrich our everyday experience

if those rough & rugged cowboys could
harbor and tend to such powerful yet
delicate emotions for each other
then maybe we can similarly
embrace our dreams & weave them
into our own epic inner journey...

What if your dream holds you hostage, and won't let you wake up?

I love when Ennis is happy because he dreamed of Jack.

Hehe, you might appreciate the top Amazon review of the hardback version of this story.
