droppin' bombs

as of last night, i have officially decided that
the fourth of july is my new favorite holiday!!

it wasn't until last year when i climbed up
onto the roof of my building and discovered
the magic 360 degrees of firework madness
that my life was forever changed...

from the roof of my building
you have a pretty good view of the national fireworks
but i am telling you... they are just a fraction
of the total insanity that is to be seen

my neighborhood is totally firework headquarters
with massive amounts of illegal explosives
going off all around & above your head
but from the rooftop vantage point
you can see them eveywhere you look
all the way to silver spring & virginia...

so when the official fireworks finally finish
you almost don't even notice cause there
are hundreds more going off all around you
the hissing and squealing sounds are only
out-louded by what i can only describe
as straight-up, no-joke BOMBS!!

i tried to capture the insanity on video
but i was too overwhelmed to get good footage
but half the magic is just the sounds
(check out my other fireworks video)

"like you work here..." ;)

I loved the video, not that it at all captures how insane it is to look around you and watch the nation's capital exploding in all directions in all depths of field, but it was enough to remind me of how amazing it was last year.

I also love your sexy Monicomposite.

I don't think I've ever seen that video from NY last year that you linked to but it is so fun!

Funny, I was just telling Alli that 4th of July was one of my favorite holidays, to my very own surprise. Perhaps as the years go on, the memories of the 4th just continue to build up so that when the time comes, I'm all awash in mushy thoughts of summer and fun.

Plus, fireworks get me so worked up. Remember the pre-4th show on the beach in Rehoboth last year? That was pretty gorgeous.

Just one thing was amiss for me this year...a miss, I guess I should say
