in my preeteen years, my friend and i
right out in the broad suburban daylight
would ransack the neighborhood's gardens
and stuff our shirts and pockets with daffodils
only a few from each yard but they were everywhere!
somehow we were never apprehended in our raids
our bizarre crimes somehow went unnoticed,
we horded those sunny flowers and basked in their glow...
