last (host) stand

with a new show quickly approaching
my mind is all abuzz with ideas
developing into an obsession of images
sketched over and over on any available surface
so it was not in my sketchbook that
my most successful/expressive sketch appeared
but on my reservation pad at work,
right under Debbie, party of two...

working on a piece for the upcoming show
The End of Nature, at the Warehouse next month
but if nature is going down, it won't be without a fight!
my work represents nature's last stand
embodied as a lumbering floral monstrosity
wobbling towards the viewer on unsteady legs
slightly menacing and utterly ridiculous
