a word of advice

when working with soft pastels
be aware of the copious amounts
of colored dust that is created...

this dust is instinctively drawn
into any number of nearby orifices,
namely the eyes, nose and mouth

my throat was dry and scratchy
from intense chalk dust inhalation
so i reached for my water
and attempted to gargle my troubles away

but my throat had had enough abuse,
choking on the water and violently
rejecting it from my body
and directly across my pastel drawing
which i had slaved over for days

luckily i was able to save the drawing
by lunging for the papertowels and
some deft working of the art gum eraser
but my throat has not recovered

i'll set it off

found the hidden button that unlocks
a word of productivity & a wellspring of ideas

colors have a purpose to play out
across ragged heavyweight paper surface
insistent imagery explains how
everything is possible all the time

the preliminary sketches have begun for
a series of large pastel drawings
we shall see how ideas play out in soft colors

he be inkin' it up!

i've gone and fired up my old trusty epson 1280...
loaded with dual turbo-charged ink cartridges,
this printer is raring to go.

if i can just keep it on a diet of quality paper
and a steady (pricey) ink supply,
this printer understands me.

yeah, there was the time that my upstairs
neighbor caused water to come
raining down through my ceiling,
directly pouring onto my printer
in the few seconds before i daringly
threw my body into the line of splash,
this printer lived to print another page.

so it is only fitting that this printer
lend some quality and class to
some major show preparations,
inking my ideas, filling in the gaps,
and super-saturating my enthusiasm

crafty comedown

i wish i had a picture to capture the pure magic and ultra positive & amazing vibes that was this year's CRAFTY BASTARDS!!

despite the gloomy forecast, the sun broke through and brought out tons of crafty vendors and just hoards of trendy/fun/young washingtonians to enjoy this awesome event that was entirely managed and created by some of my amazing City Paper coworkers.

I was all to proud to be sharing my booth space with Monica Gallagher who displayed her comic selections and raised the bar with some really stunning prints & very popular panda buttons.

Thanks to all my fastest friends who came out to see the spectacle and support us and all of the cool new friends that we made throughout the day.

Also, I would like to announce my Solo Show at Longview Gallery January 18, 2007 since I started promoting it yesterday with this flyer...
