the slow slide

Example

my glasses take a slow, sweaty slide down my nose
skin drips count the elongated minutes passage
moist connections made where skin meets skin

washington recalls it's suggested swampy beginnings
and closes around us with a warm breathy embrace

pent up confusion, anger, anxiety melt away
as humidity renders us all practically useless
harsh edges soften under sun's sustained pressure
what is left of us is only a mushy mess,
all humanity reduced into a primordial puddle
