nature gets some press!

so today i woke up to discover that
the end of nature show got some press!
first, a nice little review in the Express
and then a "pick" in the City Paper
both articles mention my new sculpture,
providing some great quotes such as how it
"awkwardly occupies" a room, and likening it to
"an alien float in the Rose Bowl Parade"

You can still catch the show at the Warehouse
weekends from 1-5pm through May 4th
with a special poetry reading Sat, April 19th at 2pm

more flowers false & fresh...

a few shots of my new sculpture last stand
in all of it's fake flower glory and another of
the oh-so potent hyacinth i bought with its intoxicating perfume that fueled me onward
all those early morning hours finishing this piece...

now it is residing in it's own special room
upstairs in the amazing warehouse gallery
as part of " the end of nature" show.
i couldn't be prouder to be part of such a strong show...

flores falsas y verdaderas

went to the cherry blossoms for their annual inspiration
i've been very fake flower focused in my latest work
so i needed to go and immerse myself in the real thing

silk flowers serve as stand-ins in the absence of florality
but they are ready to soldier on if flowers should fall
fiercely imitating nature and also exposing its absence

all of this explored in my newest freestanding sculpture
"last stand" debuting friday night at the Warehouse
as part of the exhibit "The End of Nature"
opening reception friday april 11th, 6-9pm (more info)
