bright new future

this pic speaks of my camera's new superpowers
the combination of two unstoppable creative forces
first i set the world ablaze with my new star filter
& snap shutter from wherever with my new remote!

monica warned me that once i got the camera,
the sick urge for every possible accessory sets in

dizzee rascal

would you believe that the very same night i took these
blurry, swirling self portraits that i was mysteriously
struck with a case of temporary positional vertigo??

i awkwardly stumbled into bed last saturday night
and woke the next day with the whole world spinning!
even switching positions in bed was a major upheaval...
sudden movements were out of the question and
forget about keeping any kind of food down
i could not function, and remained in bed for 24 hours
until my dear friend and awesome aunt came to my rescue

but with this week-long affliction came much excitement,
me stumbling into the emergency room like a drunken fool,
shakily seeing breakfast at tiffany's and finally getting the title,
eating an exquisite apricot/blueberry crisp and keeping it down,
and just experiencing the world with a total loss of control...

lens refraction/reflection

no longer restrained by limited functionality
a new camera age has dawned on my horizon
in which flower flash bulbs are finally in focus,
colors are true & vivid, and a hyper sensor takes it all in...
my new Nikon D40 arrived today!

took it for a spin around the Mall today
wandered in & around the many gardens to be found
every shot was in focus and hello depth of field!

these shots were taken within the newly installed
Dan Graham piece in the Hirshhorn's sculpture garden
i am a little sad it replaced a favorite Calder mobile
but they were also installing one of his stabiles
so it all balances out...
